ARTHRUIAN OPEN WORLD RPG

This arthurian-inspired game pitch was created as a part of the University of Washington's Certifcate in Game Design program. 

In this Open World Top-Down RPG, an unnamed hero overhears the legendary wizard Merlin, as he calls for aid. The Fae Enchantress Nimueh has imprisoned Merlin for all eternity within an old oak tree in the Brocéliande Forest.

Only with the help of 12 unique gemstones hidden around Albion can this prison be unlocked. Advance your magic abilities, meet new and original characters, and fight your way across Albion and Avalon.

By strategically combining realm switching, puzzle solving, and advanced combat, the player can successfully find the gems and save Merlin. If they wish...

ART STYLES AND REFERENCES

"Open World Top-Down RPG" features two very distinct art styles. In Albion, the realm of humans, colors tend to be darker and more earthy while shapes are more rigid and man-made. In Avalon, the realm of the mystical Fae, colors tend to be brighter and more pigmented while the art style is impressionistic in nature. Shapes are more fluid and natural.

ACTIVITY AND PROGRESSION CYCLE 

The players ultimate goal is to collect 12 rare gems that are scattered throughout Albion and Avalon. By partnering with various factions, completing quests, and developing magical abilities, the player advances towards their goal. The Main Activity Cycle indicates what an individual quest might look like whilst the Progression Track shows how the player progresses from the beginning of the game to the end.
